M6 Thelwall Northbound lanes closed due to lorry fire
A MOTORWAY was closed earlier this morning after a lorry caught fire, with drivers warned to expect delays.
North West Motorway Police reported that they had put a closure in place on the M6 from Junction 20 to 21 just after 8am while firefighters tackled the blaze.
As a result traffic was stopped along this section between the Lymm Interchange and Warrington while the vehicle was ablaze in the off slip.
A police spokesperson said: "If this is your route this morning please allow extra time.
"For those of you stuck in the traffic behind the scene, thank you for your patience."
Police announced that they had reopened Thelwall Northbound Lanes three and four, with open 30s to remain in place in order to keep drivers safe.
The spokesperson said: "Please allow extra time for your journey.
"Again, if you have been stuck in the tail back thank you for your patience and support."
